Initial 1:1 Reading Assessment Session

Service Description

This initial session is a focused one-to-one reading assessment designed to identify your child’s current phonics knowledge, blending ability, and early reading skills. During the session, your child will work through carefully structured phonics activities, including sound recognition, blending, and word reading. The approach is fast-paced, supportive, and designed to build confidence while giving an accurate picture of their current level. Where appropriate, children will begin decoding and reading simple words during the session, allowing you to see immediate progress and how the teaching method works in practice. Following the session, you will receive clear, honest feedback on your child’s strengths, areas for development, and whether they are a suitable fit for the small-group programme. Group placement is based on ability to ensure each child is matched with others at a similar level. This session is ideal for parents who want a clear understanding of their child’s reading development, as well as an introduction to a structured, accelerated approach to phonics and early literacy.
